On Vaikunta Ekadashi, you can perform the following:
- Fast: Known as Ekadashi Vrata, devotees undertake a rigorous fast that typically entails avoiding grains. While some people might consume milk and mild fruits, total fasting is recommended. The following day, at the designated Parana time, the fast is broken.
- Go to a temple: To obtain God's blessings, go to a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
- Chant the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra at least 108 times as a form of meditation. Additionally, you can practice Dhyana (meditation) and Japa (chanting the name of Vishnu).
- Go through the scriptures: Go through the Srimad-Bhagavatam or the Bhagavad-gita.
- Provide a service: Serve Lord Vishnu.
- Recall Lord Krishna: Recall Lord Krishna's hobbies or His several incarnations.
- Devotees who observe Vaikunta Ekadashi fasting are only allowed to eat lunch on the day before the observance, known as "Dashami".
- Because it is thought that those followers of Lord Vishnu who maintain a fast are granted entry to heaven, Vaikunta Ekadashi is unique.
